Dragišnica and Komarnica Nature Park is located in the far northwest of the Šavnik municipality, near Durmitor National Park. Covering an area of 2,994 hectares, the park encompasses three unique sections: Dragišnica, the Nevidio Canyon, and Boljske grede. The park’s terrain is characterized by rugged mountain ranges, deep canyon valleys, and gorges, offering visitors spectacular landscapes and numerous opportunities to explore nature.
The park is home to the Komarnica River, formed by the confluence of smaller rivers such as Bukovica, Savnik, Tušinje, and Bijela. The river and its canyon are major attractions, and the Komarnica is part of the Piva water system, flowing through the Dragišnica Valley, which is rich in diverse vegetation.
The park’s flora is exceptionally rich, with a significant number of plant species adapted to pronounced high-mountain conditions. These specific conditions have been shaped by evolutionary and historical factors, as well as the great diversity of orographic and microclimatic conditions.
